WHAT DO LISA'S GRADES REFER TO?
LISA's grades represent year level, e.g. an overall grade of 8 means that, overall, the student is writing at the level of a year 8 student.
This also applies to conventions and sub-conventions.
A student may be graded as writing at a year 8 level overall, but be higher (e.g. year 9) for ideas and lower (e.g. year 7) for accuracy. This means that the students' ideas are in line with expectations of a year 9 students' ability to identify and elaborate their ideas, while their spelling, punctuation and grammar were at a year 7 student's level in this answer.
These year levels are based on a range of sources including e-AsTTle, PATs, the Literacy Learning Progressions, various literacy texts and feedback from teachers. Please contact us if you'd like to discuss this; we welcome teacher input.
