WHAT IS LISA?
LISA is a suite of tools designed to engage students in writing and help teachers by doing the marking for them. Our first product is a formative or diagnostic assessment that schools and teachers can use to identify and track students' writing ability.
LISA is designed by teachers for teachers, it's designed to be intuitive. When you log in, you will get to choose which class you want to work with. This may be a whole class or a group of students within your class. Or it could be a group of students, e.g. reading recovery, that you're helping to improve their writing literacy.
The purpose of LISA is to improve the quantity and quality of feedback to teachers and students. Getting students to do some writing and then marking it is too time-consuming for teachers. So we designed and built LISA to do it for them.
Teachers can quickly create a test, using pre-written questions, and set it for students to answer online. Once students have submitted their work, LISA will automatically and instantly grade it for teachers.
We believe it's important that teachers stay in charge of the learning process, so they have the ability to see students work and grade it themselves, over-riding LISA if they wish.
WHAT NEXT?
LISA's ability to automatically mark students' writing is the core engine of the software. Once we have this well established, we will develop further products that engage students in writing.
