PROTECTING USERS' DATA
The protection of users' personal data is very important, and we've taken several steps to protect it for you.
NO DATA SHARING
We host our website and database on 3rd party servers. We currently use Microsoft Azure for this purpose. We also use a 3rd party AI provider as part of LISA's AI. Beyond this, we don't share any customer or user data with any other websites, businesses or organisations.
MINIMISE COLLECTION OF USER DATA
We've minimised the user data that we get from schools. We only collect teachers' user ID and password. We recommend that you keep teachers' LISA password different to other passwords to minimise the impact of others somehow getting hold of this, e.g. teachers accidentally sharing it with others. We collect slightly more data for students, to allow teachers and school leaders to analyse students' results by class or cohort. However, we don't collect any personal information such as contact details, etc.
DATA ACCESS AND SECURITY
We use a variety of technologies, e.g. firewalls, to minimise the risk of external parties accessing users' and our data.
WHAT ABOUT AI?
We use commercial 3rd-party AI solutions. All data provided to the AI for the purpose of grading is anonymised, i.e. we don't include student's personal information with any prompts. We encourage teachers and schools to avoid questions that encourage students to identify family or friends, or to share personal information that could identify them in any way, e.g. "Name your favourite aunt or uncle. Where do they live and why are they so much fun?".
